School Year 2010/2011
We have decided that the best route for our scuola, especially as a Reggio Emilia inspired school, is to include the community- the families, and the friends of The Sabatino Memorial Family Resource Center. So, we have decided to operate as a "Parent-Participation Co-operative Italian School"! It's exciting!
As a parent participation school, we will be asking for parents to volunteer their time and talents to our program on a rotating basis. Don't panic, working parents! We will work with you on this. There will be plenty of opportunities to help out. You can also ask a family member-grandparent, cousin, aunt, uncle etc. to "'work" just a few hours for you as well. This way, we will have your family represented, to work alongside our teachers and the children.
It "takes a village".......And as an Italian school, we feel there is nothing better than getting the family involved! In just a couple of hours of "parent"-participation, every couple of months, your family will have so many moments to enjoy together, with us.
Since we will have a parent or other relative on site with us daily as a volunteer, and our staff is entirely made up of volunteer educators, the monthly payment (donation/pledge) that you make will not be used in exchange for child care services, but used to maintain this facility, purchase food, supplies, bring in musicians, dancers, artists, and other wonderful activities for the children. The monthly funds will also be used to cover the cost of liability insurance. We consider these payments to be donations/pledges to our non-profit that houses the parent participation Italian School. Please make checks out to, "The HeartWorks Family Center", and put our tax ID number on the check 31-1810184. Our 501 c 3 is in good standing in Nevada, and in California. We have been operative for nearly ten years.
Your children will spend the day with degreed, caring educators, Italian language instructors, and family! What better education than that? We are also CPR/First Aid trained, and are covered by The Hartford, for liability, pertaining to the children in our care.
Families have a right to the type of early childhood experiences their children have. We have an Italian School, and we want it to be successful. By encouraging families to be a viable part of this experience, we can't fail.

Non-refundable.No tuition refunds after the first class.Enrollment is on-going. All tuition is paid monthly/every four weeks. No partial refunds, or any type of refund for days missed due to holidays, child's absence, etc. No “make-up” classes. Please call for "special" camps held throughout the year, such as "Spring Break, Summer Vacation, Winter Break etc. All the fun of "regular" school!In the 2-6 year old group, you may enroll for an hour each week, or combine program days. We feel it is important to also enroll your child in the four hour class, as well-in order to allow your child to foster a sense of independence, as well as giving the child the opportunity to develop the skills needed for socialization. In the Dopo- Scuola. Children will have access to wonderful, native Italian speakers, engaging activities, and a healthy snack when they arrive. We will help with homework too! Adults may combine Tuesday & Saturday (or just take the once weekly class). The classes will involve all levels, and adults will be in a “safe” environment, where they do not have to be “perfect”, and can be comfortable learning and enjoying a new skill. Parents who have enrolled their children, might find it a good idea to enroll themselves, so they can keep up with them! Again, no-refunds for days missed, and no “make-up” classes. Thank you for understanding.We will have many family gatherings, open houses, and opportunities for the students to work on projects that they can share with family and friends. Educators are CPR & First Aid trained.You will be asked to sign in and out daily. Your child may work on their Italian language & culture curriculum in the school, the piazza, or even in the park.
